Thoughts

I learned the Japanese phrase "itadakimasu" a few days ago. It translates to "to humbly receive." Japanese people will say it before eating a meal to give honor to all that went into the meal: the natural ingredients, the people who grew them, the ones who prepared them. I think it's a wonderful phrase. After seeing this kind of insane list and how much of my life I spend on new eating experiences, I'm going to start carrying this phrase with me.

Last year I learned that I loved Japanese food and this year I explored it. I also checked out a lot of Korean food this year too. It's all amazing. I have no more thoughts other than that. I want more. It's insatiable.

Laura and I went to Europe this year and had some incredible meals there. I know it's a joke that English food is unseasoned and bland, or whatever, but the best meals I had all year were in the English countryside. Don't listen to the haters.
