In 2022, I was trying to figure out how to work exercise into my daily life. In 2023, the habit-building started to pay off. Turns out, I ran more than a 3rd of the days in the year! That's pretty amazing to me. I didn't expect that level of frequency.
I intentionally tried to increase my distances and speed during the summer. After an active month, my left calf started to feel some pain. I really slowed down and tried to improve a bit more incrementally. I feel a little behind because of this. I was hoping to have run further distances by now, but I'd rather make sure I don't damage my body.
I ran my first intentional 5k this year at the verrrrry end of the year. It was okay! I'm not sure if I feel like I need to run races, but I do like the stats that you get from it. I'm was in the bottom half of all racers, all men, and men my age who were running that day. I like knowing that benchmark.
